New Parent Support Group Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society

After we had our daughter at Walter Reed National Medical Medical Center our nurse at the hospital informed us of a program offered to New Parents. The New Parent Support Home Visitation Program is awesome; Nurse Donohue came to the house periodically to check our daughter weight and ensure that she was thriving. The Nurse gave us so many great tips such as:

• How to bond with baby.

• How to child-proof your home and prepare it for baby’s arrival.

• The stages of child development.

• Skills, strategies and techniques to promote the growth and development of your child.

• How to balance the demands of caring for your child with caring for yourself.

• Cope with stress

• Nurture children to promote growth and development

• Answer questions about the everyday challenges of parenthood

• Locate local services and resources that can help parents with young children
